What is Dramatherapy?

Dramatherapy is a type of psychotherapy that intentionally uses creativity to help people express themselves, and make-meaning of their experiences.

In sessions you might explore something through the lens of a story, a character, an object, an image, or a metaphor, to make it easier to explore and understand

Dramatherapy is for anyone who wants support with their mental health, but who might benefit from opportunities to use creativity as part of the process. You do not need to consider yourself creative for it to be beneficial, or have any prior experience or skills. 

Dramatherapy has been proven to be effective in helping people of all ages, with a variety of presenting issues, such as:

Anxiety, depression, and low mood

Negative body image and low self-esteem

Unhelpful narratives, beliefs, and behaviours
